October ’18: Gerald Coffee

Among the adventures Jerry shared with brothers were a near-miss run-in with a Navy destroyer while diving for lobsters at night and managing to keep a Volkswagen bus upright with a half dozen howling Sigma Nu’s in the back on ski trips to Dodge Ridge, “Always very hairy maneuvering that VW bus in the snow on icy roads.”

August ’18: Robert Wilson

After graduating Escondido High School in 1947 Bob Wilson spent two years studying veterinary medicine at UC Davis before transferring to UCLA. After being initiated as an Epsilon Pi Brother of Sigma Nu in 1950, he joined an Army artillery unit headquartered in Japan during the Korean War, where he spent most of his enlistment managing courts martial.

April ’18: Larry Canarelli

Enterprising even at a young age and bright in school, Larry was accepted to UCLA and pledged Sigma Nu in 1965. He served as a House Manager, Rush Chairman, Pledge Trainer and, perhaps most impressively, helped lead the house to 5 consecutive All-University Intramural Championships (1965-1969).

February ’18: Al Sparlis

Launching the series is Al Sparlis (EP 255) who was selected by the Green Bay Packers in the 1946 NFL Draft. Elected into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1983 “Gunga” also had a career as a Hollywood actor and commercial real estate broker.
